Happy Tails Mobile Dog Grooming - joyfully successful!

Happy Tails Mobile Dog Grooming

Betsy Singer was back in my driveway this week with her famous mobile dog grooming van. My little Bichon Pearl was a big mess; she was quite a challenge.
Betsy, as usual was up to the challenge. Pearl loved the attention; just her and Betsy, it was all about Pearl for about three hours. What dog wouldn't love that?
Betsy makes such a big fuss over "Miss Pearl," the little white nutball jumps in her arms when she arrives. She can't wait to get in the van for her spa treatment.
Betsy has been in business for almost a year. She has a great big van and she comes right to your home to groom your dog. She has found her niche in special needs dogs.
"I've been very lucky, I've been very successful," said Betsy. "The special needs dogs, the dogs that have a little issue that makes it hard to go to the veterinarian find having me come to their home makes all the difference."
Betsy worked at the Sands Hotel and Casino until the casino closed a few years ago. She made a career change, following her heart into dog grooming.
The price of gas eats in to her budget, but she's been very busy, making her new venture profitable.
"It's worked out very well," she said. "I've been very busy and I'm not even in the phone book. I get a lot of referrals, Shore Vet refers all their special needs dogs. Word of mouth has been very good to me. People see me out and about. There are only so many hours in a day, only so many dogs I can groom. I'm as busy as I need to be right now, but I still would take a few more dogs.
"I recently groomed a Hurricane Katrina dog," said Betsy. "She was hit by a car and shot in her ear. She had a bullet hole in her ear. She was such a nice dog, she did great for me."
"This was the perfect career choice for me," she said. "I made the right choice."
